The establishment of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation goes back to the 1992-1995 Bosnian War, in which great humanitarian losses took place. Since the war, the IHH has been carrying out humanitarian activities in the Balkans, from Western Thrace to Romania, an area that has cultural and historical relations with Turkey. The experiences of the IHH in the Balkans have revealed that Balkan communities have political, economic and cultural problems; the weak relations between Balkan countries aggravate these problems, and have a determinant effect on the future of region. In this context, the symposium "Envisioning Future in the Balkans" organized by the IHH will help reinvigorate cultural movement, contact and information flow between peoples of the Balkans and Turkey; the current conjecture in the Balkans will be brought into historical and cultural focus; likely projects to solve political, economic and cultural problems in the Balkans will be discussed. Politicians, academics and representatives of civil society from Balkan countries and Turkey will take part in the symposium. Regional problems will be debated by experts during workshops on the last day of the symposium. The workshops are expected to help come up with concrete projects. * Symposium book will be given to the participants at the end of the symposium. |
